D.i.Y Project- Fake a wooden Tree stand $2.00

Have you seen those adorable wooden tree stands you place your Christmas trees in? The moment I came across one on Pinterest, I KNEW I just HAD to have one. Problem? I have no spare wood near by, no saw laying around and not enough free time on my hands. So... I got to brainstorming. Here's the results:

I LOVE it! Best part.. it only cost me $2.00! YES, TWO DOLLARS!

I used a scrap cardboard box and wood pattern contact paper from the DOLLAR TREE! My artificial Christmas tree is 12 feet tall so the base is huge. I had to use (2) rolls of contact paper but most likely an average (5'-7') Christmas tree will use only (1) roll.

First, I measured out my cardboard. I Cut the top to fit perfectly under my tree and all its lower branches. I then had to decide whether I'd have my box go all the way around the whole tree or just cover the front and sides. I discovered I only had enough cardboard to cover the front and sides of the tree base. But, honestly you can't tell whether it's a full square box or not. Not to forget our presents around the Christmas tree will help disguise it anyway.

Secondly, I taped all my cardboard together.

Took my contact paper and laid it out. Removed the backing and stuck the contact paper onto the cardboard. Then, carefully smoothed out the contact paper, making sure there were no air bubbles between the paper and cardboard.

In the final step, I taped the back of the contact paper onto the cardboard to fully secure it down.

Wrapped it around my tree and TA-DA!!!

LOVE IT!

Okay, honestly... I was going CRAZY looking everywhere for last years tree skirt but I couldn't find it. So, I place a sheet inside the, "box." To help disguise the tree trunk and tree stand. I think it looks awesome and makes it look like a fabric lined basket.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
